Twenty years ago I found myself pestering my parents constantly with questions about our family history. My main goal was to learn about the health history of my family. My parents got fed up with my constant questions, handed me the family tree, and told me to look stuff up on my own (well, maybe not so crassly, but they did get tired of the questions and told me to do my own research).
What began as a search for answers regarding the history of health issues in my family quickly turned into an obsession of learning about my family history in general. I made a lot of rookie mistakes along the way (trusting other people’s trees, not documenting where I found things). Now, I’m wiser and a much better researcher.
I hope that my research will be a wonderful gift for my daughters and my niece and nephew (my sister has zero interest in family history) someday. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
